It is probably the most wonderful time of the year! Together with our GLS students and High School Coordinators, we organized a cozy Christmas Dinner at the campus with typical German food and a little surprise…
On Monday, the 9th December we invited all of our GLS students from Berlin and nearby to take part at our yearly Christmas Dinner. It was situated at the cozy campus lounge and announced as a traditional German Christmas celebration. As we walked into the ambience we noticed many festive details, like a Christmas tree, fir branches, cones, candles and small chocolate Santa Clauses’ on the tables. A nice setting to get into Christmas mood!
Am Montag, den 9. Dezember lud unser High School Team zum alljährlichen Weihnachtsessen in die Lounge des GLS Campuses ein. Als wir den Raum betraten, bemerkten wir bereits die vielen weihnachtlichen Details. Ein großer Weihnachtsbaum, Tannenzweige, Zapfen, Kerzen und kleine Schokoweihnachtsmänner zierten die Tische - perfekt um in Weihnachtsstimmung zu kommen!
Everybody were welcomed with a tasty sweet cinnamon punch and while we talked we recogniced another delicious smell of various food in the air. When everybody arrived we finally could inspect the wide buffet. There were different salads, potatoes, crispy goose legs, red cabbage, stewed vegetables, dumplings and for dessert a tasty baked apple filled with marzipan cream. Yummy! You just could find everything your heart desires!
Zur Begrüßung gab es für alle einen sehr genussvollen, süßen Zimtpunsch. Während wir redeten, bemerkten wir außerdem einen leckeren Essensduft verschiedener Speisen, der in der Luft lag. Sobald alle da waren, konnten wir uns endlich dem Buffet widmen. Es gab verschiedene Salate, Kartoffeln, knusprige Gänsekeulen, Rotkraut, gedünstetes Gemüse, Knödel UND Bratapfel mit Marzipanfüllung als Dessert. Yummy!
We enjoyed the evening with our friends laughing, eating and talking about current thoughts and events. After dinner there was already a little surprise waiting: our Christmas fairy Jana walked around and encouraged every table to sing or say something festive in German. It worked out quite well, so every student got a small surprise. The surprise consisted of a small wooden chest and in the inside a chocolate Santa Claus with a happiness slogan for the New Year whivh is supposed to bring luck!
Den Abend haben wir damit verbracht, uns an dem Buffet zu probieren, zu lachen und über alle möglichen Dinge zu reden. Nach dem Essen wartete bereits eine kleine Überraschung: unsere Weihnachtsfee Jana animierte jeden Tisch dazu, ein Lied oder ein kurzes Gedicht auf Deutsch vorzutragen. Das klappte erstaunlich gut und so bekam jeder Schüler eine kleine Holztruhe mit einem Schokoladenweihnachtsmann und einem Glücksspruch fürs Neue Jahr!
